Course Outline
MoP Foundation
Module zero introduces you to the course’s main features, learning plan, aims and objectives, and structure. It also offers a syllabus, diagram pack, glossary, further reading and links document, and links to download essential copies of the MoP framework’s publications.
It also defines portfolio, program, and project management, along with the MoP frameworks’ portfolio management model, principles, cycles, and practices. Finally, it highlights the benefits of portfolio management and addresses several common misconceptions.
Module 2 looks at the context in which portfolio management operates and, specifically, the functions with which portfolio management must effectively coordinate its activities in pursuit of strategic objectives.
The module also explains key aspects of the relationships between portfolio management and other corporate functions and activities that share a focus on delivering strategic objectives.
Module 3 explores how portfolio management works by describing the five principles on which it is based.
This module presents a series of activities and games to help candidates review the concepts and key terms of the first three modules.
Module 5 introduces the main approaches to portfolio management and how to sustain progress. It also lays the foundation for the portfolio management practices seen in modules 6 & 7 and examines the purpose of the definition and delivery cycles.
Module 6 explains the portfolio definition stage (collating the information in order to determine the right initiatives) through five practices:

What do I need to know about the MoP exams?
There are no prerequisites for sitting the MoP Foundation exam. However, candidates must pass this exam before they can sit the MoP Practitioner examination.
The MoP Foundation exam features 50 multiple-choice questions. Candidates have 40 minutes to complete the exam and must answer at least 25 (50%) questions correctly to pass.
The MoP Practitioner exam features four questions with 20 marks available per question. Candidates have 180 minutes (three hours) to complete the exam and must score at least 40 marks (50%) to pass.
What does the MoP certification path look like?
Candidates start with MoP Foundation. This syllabus takes candidates through the building blocks of the MoP framework and equips them with the knowledge and practices to effectively contribute to portfolio management teams.
Passing the Foundation exam allows candidates to sit the MoP Practitioner exam. This focuses on applying MoP’s guidance in practice, with successful candidates knowing how to effectively oversee portfolio management teams and initiatives.
