Foundation
Module 1: The Structure of the TOGAF® Standard, Version 9.2

This first module helps you to understand the structure of the TOGAF Standard, version 9.2, and the importance of the TOGAF Library by looking at the evolving structure of the TOGAF ecosystem and the role and structure of the TOGAF Library.

Module 2: Documents in the TOGAF Library you should be Aware of

This section identifies and summarizes nine documents in the TOGAF Library that you will need to be familiar with to progress your understanding of the TOGAF Standard, Version 9.2.

Module 3: Business Architecture

Here you are taken through the changes and additions to the TOGAF Standard, Version 9.2, relating to the development of the Business Architecture. This module reflects the more detailed description of Business Architecture activities included in the full TOGAF Body of Knowledge.

Module 4: The ISO/IEC/IEEE 42010:2011 Standard

This module will help you understand the relationship between the TOGAF standard, Version 9.2 and the ISO/IEC/IEEE 42010:2011 Standard.

Module 5: The TOGAF® Content Framework and Metamodel

The learning objective of this module is to understand the changes to the Content Framework and Metamodel in the TOGAF Standard, Version 9.2.

Module 6: Security Architecture

This section will help you to understand how the TOGAF standard can be adapted to make use of an existing Enterprise Security Architecture in order to address security and risk.

Module 7: Other Significant Changes

Other significant changes that must be studied and understood include the revised emphasis in the executive overview, the extended reference to Architecture tools in the Preliminary Phase, changes to the objectives of Phases B, C and D, the additional objective statement in Phase E, changes to the Architecture Repository, the layout of ADM Phase Chapters, and the content of Chapter 8 – Information Systems Architectures.

 
Module 8: Definitions of Terms

This module will help you to understand the changes made to defined terms in the TOGAF standard, Version 9.2, including new definitions to support new content, alignment with other standards, simplicity, consistency, clarity, and those definitions that have been deleted.

Module 9: The TOGAF Credentials Program and Course Conclusion

This section explains the TOGAF Credentials program in terms of its objectives, its principles, rollout plan and assessment, and concludes by explaining how to achieve the TOGAF Essentials 2018 Credential in terms of next steps.

Exam/Assessment

Upon successful completion of the training, candidates will submit the required details to the Accredited Training Organization (ATO), which in turn will submit the applications to The Open Group.

Once an application is successfully submitted, the candidate will receive an invitation from The Open Group to take their assessment. The assessment program includes a practice assessment which can be re-taken any number of times before the candidate attempts the final assessment (which has provision for two re-takes).

    What is TOGAF Essential 2018?

    TOGAF Essentials 2018 is a course designed to help professionals certified in TOGAF 9 or 9.1 to update their knowledge in line with the latest version of the framework. Successful candidates will receive an ‘Open Badge’ to indicate that they have a full understanding of TOGAF 9.2.

    Who owns the TOGAF standard?

    The TOGAF standard is owned and developed by the members of The Open Group, a body consisting of many of the world’s Fortune 1000 companies as well as many major IT vendors.

    Is the TOGAF Essentials 2018 course accredited?

    Yes, the TOGAF Essentials 2018 course has been accredited by The Open Group.

    What are the prerequisites for this course?

    Candidates must be certified in TOGAF 9 or TOGAF 9.1 in order to enroll in this course.

    What is the duration of this course?

    The seat time of the course is 3 hours.

    How long can users access this course?

    Learners receive 6 months of access from the purchase date of the course.

    How long is the exam valid for?

    Learners get 12 months from the date of purchase to complete the examination.

    How can the assessments be taken?

    How do I find my candidate ID for the assessment?

    There are two ways to find your candidate ID:

    In the ‘Take Exam’ page, select ’Go to Pearson VUE‘. The summary page will show the Candidate ID under ‘Personal Information’.

    Alternatively, log in to your TOGAF 9 Certification account, select ‘View/Edit my Certification’ and find ‘Candidate ID’ at the top of the Certification Information page. Please note, the Certification ID (CID) is not the Candidate ID.

    Does the course include a manual?

    The course does not require a manual. However, we do recommend having a copy of the ‘TOGAF Standard – Version 9.2 Guide’ on hand to complement your training.
