Are there any requirements to join a Skills Bootcamp?
Yes, Skills Bootcamps are for adults over 19 (as of August 2023). You can be employed, self-employed, unemployed, or returning to work after a break. You must also have lived in England for at least 3 years and be legally eligible to work in the UK.
Can I take more than one Skills Bootcamp at a time?
No, you can only participate in one Skills Bootcamp per year (between April 1st and March 31st) and cannot be enrolled in more than one program at the same time.
How much do I have to pay for a Skills Bootcamp?
The cost depends on your situation. If you are unemployed, looking to change careers, or are an individual being hired because you completed a Skills Bootcamp, then it is free. Employers who want to upskill their staff will pay a portion of the cost: 30% for large employers and 10% for small or medium-sized businesses.
What kind of help do I get after finishing a Skills Bootcamp?
Landing a job is a major focus of our program. That’s why we offer post-completion support to help you find employment. This can include setting you up with a job interview or providing guidance on career advancement within your current role. Remember, employability skills are a core part of the Skills Bootcamp curriculum.
What kind of device do I need?
All you need is a laptop or desktop computer, with a working camera and microphone to take part in the virtual live learning sessions alongside a reliable internet connection.
What steps are involved in applying for a Skills Bootcamp?
The application process involves several steps to ensure you’re a good fit for the program. Here’s a breakdown:
Enrollment Form: Fill out the form to check eligibility and agree to the course terms and conditions.
Initial Assessment: Take online assessments to gauge your proficiency in English, math, and ICT (Information and Communication Technology). This helps confirm your suitability for the chosen course.
Information Call: An advisor will discuss your application and assessment results to ensure you understand the time commitment involved.
Course Enrollment: Once you accept the terms, you’ll be placed in a group (cohort) and officially enrolled in the course.
NewGen Account Setup: You’ll receive login details for the NewGen learning platform where you’ll access materials and attend live sessions.
Starting Point Assessment & Welcome Course: Complete these online modules within 48 hours of enrollment to kickstart your learning journey.
Welcome Training Plan Call: Your tutor will call to welcome you, answer questions, and outline available support throughout the program.
Start Learning: Each week, you’ll have a mix of activities: 5 hours of live online sessions with instructors and career coaches, along with assessments and projects on the NewGen platform.
How do I enroll in a Skills Bootcamp?
Meeting the eligibility requirements and attending an advisor call are both required for enrollment in a Skills Bootcamp (Level 3 or higher). The advisor call will ensure you understand the course commitment and answer any questions you may have. Places in the program tend to fill up quickly, so applying early is recommended to maximize your chances of acceptance.
Additional Information
- Post-Bootcamp Support: Our careers team will continue to assist you in finding a new job, getting promoted, or growing your business for up to six months after course completion.
Guaranteed Interview: If you’re unemployed or changing careers, you’ll be guaranteed a job interview upon completion.
Progression: Once you secure a new job, promotion, or new business venture, you’ll need to provide written proof.
Course Completion Certificate: Yes, you’ll receive a certificate upon successful completion of the Skills Bootcamp.
Application Limit: You can only apply for one Skills Bootcamp per funding year (April 1st to March 31st).
